Find Me Friday - 9/10

Check out this little guy's camouflage. I found him (her?) on a wooden post when we were at Shawnee State Forest in southern Ohio last weekend. I think it is a type of Fence Lizard, but it looks a bit different than the pics I have found....I did read somewhere that females of certain species can get a red spot before they lay eggs so maybe that's what is going on here? If anyone knows, please inform me! Thanks =)

If you are new this week, all you have to do is post a photo of whatever you want (within reason of course, keep it clean people! ;-) ) and it has to have some element of "peekaboo," "hiding" or "camouflage" in it. Purple Caterpillar

I found this strange caterpillar when we were at Shawnee State Forest in southern Ohio this past weekend. I had never seen a purple caterpillar before and had no idea what it was. I looked it up when we got home and found that it seems to be a White-blotched Heterocampa. Apparently they turn purple/pink right before pupating. I learned something new!

I have posted a photo similar to this before, but I just couldn't resist posting this one for Find Me Friday. I love how the toad on the Toad House is peeking through the flowers.

Alien Encounter

A couple days ago I was surprised by this little guy (or lady?). I was taking pictures when Hubby came home for lunch and said "Get the shotgun" lol. Its so funny that such a big guy (he's 6'3") gets so freaked out by a praying mantis!

Looking at the Sky on Friday - August Sunrise

I was up early enough this morning to see the sunrise so I took advantage of the situation.  Please excuse the power line =) We are surrounded by corn fields this year and it is so neat to see the mist over them, though you can only see it a little in this photo.
